TV Worth Watching Best Bets

THE BIG BANG THEORY

CBS, 8 p.m. ET

In this episode, Penny (Kaley Cuoco) decides it might to worthwhile to continue to pursue the idea of dating Leonard (Johnny Galecki) again – and, to do so, pulls out all the stops. Or, at least, pulls out one of her better outfits.

30 ROCK

NBC, 8 p.m. ET

The serialized story continues – this installment is called “Idiots Are People Three” – and continues to feature such guest stars as Kelsey Grammer and Denise Richards. But tonight, the guest star most worthy of note is Will Arnett, reprising his role of Devin Banks, the corporate nemesis of Alec Baldwin’s Jack Donaghy.

FLORIDA REPUBLICAN CANDIDATES DEBATE

CNN, 8 p.m. ET

The last time Wolf Blitzer moderated one of these Republican debates for CNN (pictured), there were several more podia on the stage. (That’s the plural form of podium. Honest.) And several more candidates. But here, in Florida, comes the second debate of the week, and the first after President Barack Obama’s State of the Union Address. So what happens now? Attacks on Obama’s announced policy plans for the final year of his term, or attacks on each other? I predict a little of both.

WITNESS

Sundance, 10 p.m. ET

This 1985 movie, starring Harrison Ford and Kelly McGillis, is a wonderful film, and one of the best scripted portrayals of the Amish lifestyle ever presented. Oh, and every time I pick up a visitor at the 30th Street train station in Philadelphia, I meet them by what I call the “Witness angel” – the statue that fascinates, and terrifies, the young murder witness at the start of the film. Eric, I’ll meet you there tomorrow…

INSIDE COMEDY

Showtime, 11 p.m. ET

SERIES PREMIERE: David Steinberg already has shown he can do this superbly – talk casually yet specifically to comedians about comedy – in his TV Land series, Sit Down Comedy with David Steinberg. Here, serving as both host and (with Steve Carell) co-producer, Steinberg talks more comedy, with more comics. First up: Don Rickles and Jerry Seinfeld. For a full review, see today’s BIANCULLI’S BLOG.
